If you're an adrenaline junky, love to explore the outdoors, and are up for just about anything, Wyoming is the state for you.

Adventuring around this state is my favorite thing, and I've put thousands of miles on my truck and shoes to take in as many adventures as possible. Of course, big tourist attractions exist, like Devils Tower, Yellowstone, Grand Teton, Jackson, Cheyenne Frontier Days, and floating and fishing the Miracle Mile on the North Platte River around Casper. There are also events and attractions that, if you don't look for them, you may miss them. These events happen all year, so don't let the fact that it's winter fool you into thinking cool things aren't happening.

One of those events is the Frozen Fore ice golf tournament, which benefits the Saratoga Museum in Saratoga, WY. As soon as I heard about the event, I knew it was something I had to check out.

In Saratoga, you'll not find big chain restaurants or hotels, but you'll get locally owned and operated bars, restaurants, hotels, and motels. You get that genuine small-town Wyoming attitude and welcoming feel that'll make you start figuring out how to spend more time in town.

It doesn't take long to figure out your way around town and find all the hot spots to hang out. When heading out of town on the south side, you pass by the Saratoga Museum, where you'll typically find history lovers checking out over 10,000 artifacts and exhibits. Donations and fundraising efforts fund the museum, like the ice golf tournament.

I rolled into town on Friday and spent the evening roaming around town, checking out the Snowy Mountain Brewery & Pub,  then the historic Hotel Wolf, and staying at the newly remodeled The Sage Motel.

Then, on Saturday, it was a full day of adventures that included a visit to the Saratoga Hobo Hot Springs, Saratoga Lake for the ice golf tournament, and then to Encampment and the Snowy Mountains—the day wrapped up at an excellent restaurant/bar called The Malt.
