The Wyoming Highway Patrol on Monday announced the death of a Wyoming driver involved in a single-vehicle crash north of Laramie.

A Wyoming driver killed in a Sunday morning crash west of Encampment may have fallen asleep at the wheel, the highway patrol says.

A Wyoming man is dead after colliding with an SUV on an icy road near Encampment, the highway patrol says.

Several locations in southeast Wyoming and the western Nebraska Panhandle saw sub-zero temperatures overnight, according to the National Weather Service in Cheyenne.

The rapid growth forced firefighters and equipment working on the west side of the fire to pull back as a precaution.

According to a Monday morning news release from fire managers, firefighters including a hot shot crew were at the fire scouting and preparing to create a landing area for helicopters.

This fire will have to be fought from the air. Thick timber in the area will prevent ground crews from reaching the blaze.

"It's really a best-case scenario," says Voos.
