Social Media Reacts to Craig Bohl’s Retirement at Wyoming
LARAMIE -- Manhattans will be swilled, cigars will be puffed, gold balls will travel.
Sure beats watching film and navigating the new world of college football, huh?
Craig Bohl Wednesday announced he would ride off into the sunset and into retirement after "one final rodeo" when his Cowboys take on Toledo Dec. 30 in the Barstool Sports Arizona Bowl. The 65-year-old spent a decade on the sidelines in Laramie, becoming the longest-tenure head coach in program history.
Why now?
"I began to look at our players during the course of the year, I looked at the fans, I looked at where our program was at, I looked at the culture. Many times, coaches stay around too long. They wear out their welcome," he said. "For whatever reason, their decision model is not one of great clarity. So, I felt like now was the time and that we were in a really good place.
"I also feel like to have a younger voice to step into that locker room and to move forward was going to be important."
