How many coaches remain from Bohl’s first staff in Laramie?
LARAMIE -- Then there were two.
That's how many coaches remain from Craig Bohl's initial staff at Wyoming.
One of those guys was already in Laramie when Bohl arrived on campus in the winter of 2014. The other left frigid Fargo, along with five other North Dakota State coaches, to join Bohl in Laramie.
Fast forward to today.
Pete Kaligis, a holdover from the Dave Christensen era, is still coaching the Cowboys' defensive tackles. He's on year 13. Gordie Haug is the last NDSU man left standing from that original staff after Brent Vigen accepted the head coaching position at Montana State last Monday. Haug coaches the running backs and is the director of player personnel.
Here's Bohl's first staff and what they are doing today:
Brent Vigen
As we mentioned above, UW's former offensive coordinator is now the head honcho in Bozeman. That ended an 18-year run as Bohl's right-hand man, the last seven of which were in Laramie.
Steve Stanard
Stanard, who came with Bohl from Fargo, was the Cowboys' defensive coordinator and cornerbacks coach from 2014-16. He was not retained in Laramie and became a defensive ends coach at Syracuse. After a three-year stint in New York, Stanard accepted a job as the linebackers coach at Kansas State where he currently is today.
Kenni Burns
Burns spent just one season at UW after following Bohl to Laramie from Fargo. He coached the wide receivers. In 2016, Burns surfaced at Western Michigan where he coached running backs for one season. He moved on to Minnesota the following year and is still there today. Burns is a running backs coach and assistant head coach.

AJ Cooper
Cooper also came to Laramie from NDSU. He coached defensive ends and special teams from 2014 to 2019. He joined Nick Rolovich's staff at Washington State before the 2020 campaign. He still coaches the edge rushers in Pullman.
John Richardson
Speaking of Wazzu, Richardson, along with Cooper and Jake Dickert, became a package deal for the Cougars. Richardson, another NDSU transplant, coached Wyoming's cornerbacks from 2014 to 2019.
Scott Fuchs
Fuchs coached the offensive line in Fargo from 2009-13 before coming to Laramie with Bohl in 2014. At UW, Fuchs was also in charge of the front five. He spent five years at UW and was not retained after the 2018 campaign. Fuchs is now at the University of Buffalo.
Mike Bath
Bohl hired Bath in 2014 to become the Cowboys' running backs and fullbacks coach. Bath was moved to lead the tight ends in 2018, his final season in Laramie. He is now the running backs coach at Western Michigan.
David Brown
Brown spent just one season coaching the secondary at UW before being named the defensive coordinator at Texas A&M-Kingsville. He stayed there until 2018. Brown is now athletic coordinator and head football coach at PSJA Memorial Early College High School in Alamo, Texas.
