The seventh annual Laramie Yoga Day will bring the local yoga community together this weekend with a goal of raising money for the Laramie Soup Kitchen and creating a happier, healthier Laramie.

Classes will be held hourly from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday in the Kenny Sailors Gymnasium at the Laramie Plains Civic Center, which is providing the space at no cost.

Hot Power Yoga, Blossom Yoga Studio, Yoga Oasis, and Infinite Balance -- along with Jen Banks and other instructors -- are teaming up for Laramie Yoga Day 2016.

"It's just an amazing day," says organizer Vicky Moore.

Moore says for only the price of a donation, even if that donation is just being present, people can work with a variety of different instructors, classes and studios.

"In 2009 I was teaching at Blossom and asked Emily, who only recently started Blossom herself, if I could put on a Yoga Day Laramie and align it with World Yoga Day. She generously and bravely said, yes," says Moore. "I had never put on a public event before but decided to try. She canceled the classes on Saturday, and we held classes by donation 9-5. The first year it was pretty small, yet there was a turn out."

"With anything, in time, it grew, each year I figured out more about putting on an event like this, and each year more people wanted to join in," says Moore.

Moore asks that all donations be made payable to Laramie Soup Kitchen.
