In conjunction with Fire Prevention Week, Cheyenne Fire and Rescue will host a free fire safety open house this Sunday.

Prevention Division Lt. Steve Zimmerman says the open house will feature everything from a junior firefighter obstacle course to an auto extrication demonstration.

"It's just an opportunity for us to interact with the public," said Zimmerman. "Really we want to push home that lives don't need to be lost in fires and that they can be prevented with smoke detectors and good preventative activities."

The event will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Cheyenne Fire and Rescue training facility located in the Cheyenne Business Parkway off of Campstool Road.
