This mask requirement is an extension of the requirement already in place in all K-12 facilities. The December 17 deadline reflects the Friday that immediately precedes the scheduled Winter Break for all K-12 schools in the district.

The reason for this decision is based on recent recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) that children ages 5-11 get the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine. It was determined that since the two-week Winter Break starts the Monday following December 17, families that choose to vaccinate against COVID-19 will have until Monday, January  3, to have their children fully vaccinated before school resumes.
