The Laramie branch of the Albany County Public Library says that it will now be open on Sundays from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM starting January 12, 2020. This will be the first time since 2015 that the main branch has been open seven days a week.

In a statement, the Libary said that ACPL’s current financial security and fiscal planning have put the library in the position to open on Sundays. They added that the public library has strived to be open as many hours as possible, but budget issues have consistently led to ACPL having no other options than to reduce its operating hours.

Finding a way to open on Sundays was a priority of the ACPL Board in 2019 in order to expand library access in the community, ACPL said.

To celebrate the new hours, the library and Albany County Public Library Foundation will have 'Sunday Funday' on the second Sunday of the month from January to March. The public is invited to participate in fun activities from1:00 PM to 5:00 PM on Sunday, January 12. These activities include a Library Scavenger Hunt, a Kids Bookmark Design Contest, and a Hot Cocoa Bar. More details are available at acplwy.org.
