ACLU of Wyoming to Host Liberty & Libations Event in Laramie

LARAMIE -- The ACLU of Wyoming is hosting Liberty & Libations, a community building event in Laramie, from 7:30 to 9 p.m. on Monday, April 29, at Solidarity House Cooperative, 2250 Welsh Lane in Laramie.

Liberty & Libations is an opportunity to socialize and network with ACLU supporters, meet the staff of the ACLU and learn how the ACLU’s mission is changing communities across Wyoming.

The conditions at the Wyoming Women’s Center in Lusk will also be discussed. In a legal complaint filed in November 2018 with the U.S. District Court of Wyoming in Cheyenne, three inmates at the Women’s Center allege that overcrowding and staff turnover at the prison fuel tensions between inmates and have led to a rise in violence.

The inmates are asking the federal court to force the state to deal with the overcrowding and the deteriorating facilities they say have created unconstitutional conditions of confinement.

Liberty & Libations is free and open to the public. Each attendee will receive a complimentary beverage (must be 21 or older for alcoholic beverages, of course), and light snacks will also be provided.
