The smalls school began their action at the Casper Events Center on Thursday.

These are brief summaries of each first-round game in order of the schedule.

Girls Final Score: Rock River 52 Little Snake River 48

Delany Qualls scored 24 points to lead the Rock River Longhorns to a 52-48 victory over Little Snake River in the first round of the 1A Girls' State Basketball Tournament. Rock River led by five at halftime and opened the second half on a 12-3 run. The Longhorns then held off a Rattlers rally for the victory. Rock River made 11 three-pointers, which included five by Qualls and three from Stephany Davis. They shot 45 percent from the field. Little Snake River was led by Skylynn Ready with 15 points, but the Rattlers shot only 33 percent and made only two 3-pointers.

Girls Final Score: Kaycee 39 Farson-Eden 32

Kaycee leads the entire way to secure victory over Farson-Eden. Tinely Pierson scored 24 points for Kaycee. Pierson accumulated nine total rebounds and was 13-14 from the free-throw line. The Lady Bucs also found 12 points from their bench in the win and were able to outrebound the Pronghorns 34-26. Although trailing the entire game Farson-Eden did not go away easy as going into the 3rd quarter the score was 28-26. The Pronghorns were led by Ighlee Thoren who scored 11 points and assisted the ball four times. Thoren was 3-8 from the 3 point line.

Boys Final Score OT: Farson-Eden 40 Lingle-Ft. Laramie 35 

Overtime was needed to decide this one. The Pronghorns had two players in double figures Colby Jones added 13 points and Trevor Jones followed with 11 points. There were six total ties in the game which included a score of 31-31 at the end of the 4th quarter. Lingle did not play a bad game by scoring 14 points in the 4th quarter. Doggers outrebounded the Pronghorns 32 to 17 in total rebounds. Caeden Riley scored 17 points and snagged nine rebounds for Lingle.

Boys Final Score: Encampment 66 H.E.M. 42

The Encampment Tigers could not slowed down against the H.E.M. Miners. The Tigers had three players score in double figures. Dayne Anderson had 21 points while shooting 3-9 from the three. Reid Schroeder scored 17 points while shooting 50% from the field. Dalton Peterson ended the game with a double-double at 16 points and 14 rebounds, Peterson also added five assists to his totals. The Tigers shot 41.5% from the field and 31.6% from the 3-point line. Shane McGraw scored 19 points and had 20 rebounds in the losing effort for the Miners.

Girls Final Score: Upton 53 Saratoga 34

The Upton Bobcats outscore the Saratoga Panthers in the 2nd half of play to advance. The Bobcats outscored Saratoga 30-15 in the second half. Alyson Louderback of Upton led the way with 18 points. Katlyn Louderback and Jerrica Caylor also each added 12 points for the Bobcats. Upton could be slowed down as the team shot 45.5% from the field and scored a total of 29 points off of turnovers. Despite outrebounding the Bobcats the Panthers were unable to find the basketball effectively in the second half. Saratoga was led by Savannah Wells who accumulated 13 total points.

Girls Final Score: Cokeville 65 Lingle-Ft. Laramie 22

The Cokeville Panthers found victory over the Lingle Ft. Laramie Doggers. Emmie Barnes scored 14 points in the win. Kylee Dayton followed suit by adding 12 points for the Panthers. Cokeville shot 54.9% from the field and outrebounded Lingle by 31 to 20. Cokeville's largest lead came by 46 points late in the game. Lingle struggled by turning the ball over 32 times compared to 17 by Cokeville. Ashley Riley led the way for the Doggers by hitting two from beyond the 3-point line and scoring a total of 10 points in the loss.

Boys Final Score: Saratoga 50 Kaycee 43

Teegan Love for the Saratoga Panthers had 25 points and 8 rebounds in the win over the Kaycee Buckaroos. Gavin Bartlett had 11 points also for the Panthers. Saratoga shot 46.2% from the field while scoring 18 in the 4th quarter to seal the win. Kaycee came up short despite hitting five 3-pointers two coming in the late 4th quarter. Dion Ealy scored 22 points and had five rebounds in the loss. Ealy hit two 3-pointers in the game.

Boys Final Score: Upton 66 St. Stephens 50

What was a back and forth battle until the middle of the 4th quarter when Upton got hot and did not slow down until the finish. Upton went on a 19-1 run to pull away. The Upton Bobcats shot 42.9% from the fields and hit seven threes. Upton scored 30 points off of turnovers. Jess Claycomb had 20 points, 6 rebounds, and 2 assists. Luca Brooks scored 20 points with three of them coming from beyond the 3-point line. St. Stephens outrebounded the Upton 44-27. Ronald Moore was the leading scorer for the Eagles with 10 points. Moore hit two 3-pointers in the loss.
