The Wyoming Department of Transportation has closed Snowy Range Road, WYO 130, over the high country of the Snowy Range, for the season.

WYDOT says the winter storm last weekend brought more snow to the area and strong winds helped create large snow drifts on WYO 130. One drift in particular, a 10 foot drift near Libby Flats, is what is causing the closure.

WYO 130 over the Snowy Range close every year in late autumn, as low traffic and deep snow make plowing the road impractical. WYO 70, the other annually closed road in Southeast Wyoming is still open. Last year, both roads stayed open until Nov. 28.

WYDOT says it hopes to have WYO 130 open by Memorial Day Weekend next year.
