Laramie Pickleheads, clear your calendars this weekend: the No. 1 pickleball player in the world will be here.

Ben Johns, the 24-year-old Pickleball Triple Crown Winner, will be at the Cowboy PickleBrawl tournament this weekend at the University of Wyoming tennis complex. Registration is closed, but spectators are encouraged to enjoy the event for free.

On Friday, Johns will hold the “Ben Johns Clinic” along with senior pro player Eric White for 3.0-3.5 players, and he will play in the Great 8 Round Robins starting at 6 p.m.

Saturday is full of tournaments, plus a meet and greet with Johns at 11 a.m.

The tournament closes out on Sunday with a mixed doubles tournament followed by Junior division play.

Laramie pickleball fan Ollie Hill said there will be over 300 entries in the tournament, from all over but primarily Wyoming and Colorado, playing in different divisions. He’s excited to meet the best pickleball player, and for “this very important tournament, as it’s a unique event for Wyoming and in particular, Laramie.”

Laramie is home to numerous Pickleball opportunities. The Laramie Recreation Center has drop-in pickleball opportunities. Visit their website here to see times, and to learn about the outdoor pickleball courts at Laramie’s Undine Park.

For more serious players, the Laramie Pickleball Association (visit here) will have more information for you to get involved.
