Due to current fire conditions and the anticipated elevated risk of wildfire, Stage 1 fire restrictions were put in place Thursday, July 5 on all National Forest System lands within the Sierra Madre Range and Snowy range on the Medicine Bow National Forest.
The Forest Service has opened Forest Road 700, or Vedauwoo Road on Pole Mountain in Medicine Bow National Forest for motorized travel and designated dispersed camping in time for the holiday weekend.
Laramie residents could see some smoke in the sky this weekend, when the Laramie Ranger District fire crews begin conducting prescribed burns Friday, April 27 and Sunday, April 29.
Seasonal road closures are scheduled to take effect this Thursday, Feb. 1 on Pole Mountain in order to preserve road conditions and protect resources in the Medicine Bow National Forest.
The program allows fourth-grade students and their families to visit day-use areas in the local forests and grasslands free of charge, the Forest Service said in a news release.
