One Section of Interstate 80 in Wyoming has opened, just as other stretches of the same highway have closed, according to the Wyoming Department of Transportation.

WYDOT says I-80 between Rock Springs and Rawlins finally opened on Friday morning, after being closed for most of the last two days.  But strong winds were causing travel restrictions for light, high profile vehicles on other stretches of the same highway, as of 11:30 a.m. Friday, according to WYDOT.

That included the eastbound lane of 1-80 between Walcott Junction and Laramie, which was closed to light, high profile vehicles. The westbound lane of that same section of I-80 was open at last report, but WYDOT was warning of strong winds and an extreme blow-over risk on that stretch of highway.

Interstate 25, meanwhile, was closed to light, high profile vehicles between Wheatland and the Colorado state line. For the most up to date Wyoming road and travel reports go here.
