The recently formed Albany County Transportation Authority (ACTA) in Laramie has started a bus route "Gem City Grand" that will provide transportation from Wal-Mart and Downtown Laramie and stops along the way.

The FREE daily route will begin Monday,  August 29and run from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. weekdays and 10 a.m. - 10 p.m. weekends.  With 12 anticipated stops to enable riders to efficiently access employers, educational institutions, recreational activities, shopping and conference facilities. Bus stop signs are currently being installed by the City of Laramie. See map of routes>

"We are excited to begin this new pilot route under ACTA's authority as it will provide enhanced public transportation for students and all Laramie citizens, " said Albany County Commissioner Tim Chesnut. "This pilot route will also allow us to gauge the long-term interest in public transportation within the Laamie community.

A route kick-off celebration is scheduled for 10 a.m. Monday, August 29, at the First Street Plaza.

The "Gem City Grand" route, budgeted to run for one calendar year, is funded by federal grant administered by the Wyoming Department of Transportation, Albany County, Albany County Tourism, City of Laramie, Downtown Laramie Business Association/Main Street Alliance, Eppson Center for Seniors, Laramie County Community College and the University of Wyoming.
