Laramie Restaurant Washes Cars for St. Jude’s

Laramie's Chili's Restaurant is participating with other Chili's Restaurants around the nation to raise funds for St. Jude's Children's hospital.  Laramie's local Chili's will be raising funds over the course of the next few months, with a series of events.

Tate Mullen, a Laramie Chili's manager, says that the Chili's corporation has been a major donor for St. Jude's for some time.  Restaurants are encouraged to do fundraising drives during the month of September, but Mullen says that in Laramie they're doing things a little differently.

"What we've opted to do is a three-month long drive to raise funds for St. Jude's research."

The restaurant will be offering usual avenues for fund raising, like blank cards that people can buy for a donation, personalize then are hung on the premises,  retro-style slap bracelets are also available for a small donation.  But the restaurant will also  host larger fund raising events on July 28th and 29th.

On Saturday July 28th, the Chili's parking lot, on the east end of Grand AVE, will play host to a car wash.  Interested donors can donate $5 for a car wash, and also be treated to free fajitas, courtesy of the restaurant.  Mullen says, however, that this isn't an average car wash.

"We've got all sorts of things for this one.  We're going to have some firefighters here with a fire engine, something the kids will enjoy, also the Naughty Pines Derby Dames will here helping out."  Mullen goes on to say that a live DJ will be on hand for the afternoon to add to the ambiance of fun.

The car wash will go from 1 o'clock Saturday afternoon until 4 o'clock, but Mullen says if the cars are there, they'll keep going.

The following day, Sunday July 29th, Chili's will be hosting a flag football tournament in Washington park where employees and the public can play a game of football for a good cause.  Participation a $2 donation per person.  Also, during the football tournament, a drawing will be held for Chili's merchandise as well as University of Wyoming sporting events tickets, and other merchandise Sunday afternoon in the park.  Tickets for that raffle will be sold during the car wash on Saturday.

Monday night will represent an in-house fundraiser for St. Jude's Children's Hospital.  Staffers of Laramie's Chili's restaurant will be donating 100% of their tips to the charity.

Mullen says that the local Chili's hopes to raise $15,000 before September.

What's Going On:

Car Wash- Saturday July 28th.  1:00 pm until 4:00 pm.  Car wash is a $5 donation.  Patrons will get free fajitas.  Raffle tickets for UW sporting event tickets and other merchandise will be available.

Flag Football Tourney- Sunday July 29th.  1:00 pm until 4:00 pm.  Entry is a $2 donation per person.  Drawing of tickets for UW sporting event tickets and other merchandise will happen during the tournament.  Sign up for the tournament will happen on the day.  Mullen says "just show up."
