Laramie Plainsmen Face The Bison in Rivalry Week [VIDEO]
It’s rivalry week across 4A Wyoming High School Football, and Friday night at Deti Stadium the Laramie Plainsmen will take on the No. 5 Cheyenne South Bison.
Coming off of wins over Evanston and Cheyenne Central, the Plainsmen are seeking their first three-game win streak in 11 years. It was September, 2005.
Laramie is 4-1 against the Bison all-time, but lost a home game two years ago, 27-21. The Plainsmen returned the favor last year at South with a shootout 52-42 victory.
Plainsmen head coach Chuck Syverson previewed the game by talking about his team’s focus during homecoming week; their quest for another victory; the opposition, Cheyenne South and more.
The match-up presents a contrast in styles. It’s air versus ground. Laramie has 4A’s number one passing attack at 181 yards per game, while the Bison possess the top rushing attack at 351 yards a game. The two defenses are only separated by three yards allowed per game. LHS is at 275, while South is at 278.
Seniors Taylor Dodd and Conor Beeston lead the Laramie offense, while running backs Keyshawn Farmer and D’Andre McCray key the Bison ground attack. Each team also has a key linebacker in Carless Looney, who leads 4A in defensive points, from LHS and Caleb Price of South, who is fifth.
It’s the sixth meeting between these two rivals, and it is Laramie’s homecoming. Kick-off is also early at 6 p.m.
KOWB (AM 1290) will provide live coverage of the game. David Settle and VerDon Hoopes will call the action. The broadcast is set to begin at 4:30 p.m.
