Voting in the primary election and economic development were two main topics Laramie Mayor Andrea Summerville addressed in a radio interview Monday.

The mayor stressed the importance of participating in Wyoming’s primary election next Tuesday, Aug. 21. Yes, the mayor talked about the 6th-penny tax renewal and what the City of Laramie wants to do with it, but also how there are key races on the local level for city council and county commissioner seats that Laramie residents need to look at.

Mayor Summerville also discussed the business climate in the city, particularly on some main roads, including spots along 3rd Street. Something in the future that the mayor brought to light is a Laramie is hosting its first “Start-Up Weekend.” It will be Sept. 21-23 at the University of Wyoming’s College of Business.

There were some other related topics that were talked about, which included a salute by the mayor to the Laramie Police Department for their ‘Lip Sync Challenge’ video.

Mayor Summerville joins the “Laramie Live on KOWB” radio morning show each month. Typically the “Mondays With The Mayor” series is the first Monday of a month but is adjusted based on schedules. The mayor’s visit can be heard live on KOWB radio at 9:10 a.m.
