Laramie Mayor Advising Graduates To Not Use Garfield Street

Laramie Mayor Dave Paulekas advises University of Wyoming students and their families not to drive on Garfield Street when leaving town for the summer or attending this week’s commencement ceremonies.

Substantial traffic jams are occurring on Garfield now, and traffic is expected to increase as students leave town and family and friends arrive for commencement, he says.

Due to construction on Grand Avenue, a detour has been established on Sheridan Street, but many drivers are ignoring the signed detour and are using Garfield Street instead. Paulekas suggests students and families use Sheridan Street to bypass the Grand Avenue construction, or access I-80 on south Third Street rather than east Grand Avenue.
