A Laramie man is in custody on charges of strangling someone he lived with.

Jacob A. Buszkiewic, 28, was arrested following an investigation that began April 30. He is charged with two counts of strangulation of a household member, and could spend up to 10 years in prison if convicted on both counts.

According to court documents, Laramie police responded to Buszkiewic's home shortly after 8 a.m. April 30 for a report of a domestic complaint.

Buszkiewic allegedly told an officer he had a verbal argument with the victim at the residence. The victim was nowhere to be found. Buszkiewic reportedly had a cut on one of his fingers, as well as scratch marks on the right side of his chest and neck area.

Laramie police learned the victim was likely in Sheridan and contacted the Sheridan Police Department for assistance shortly after noon. The victim was found at an urgent care facility in Sheridan and was reported to have a black eye, a bloody lip and what appeared to medical staff to be signs of strangulation.

According to the affidavit, the victim told Sheridan police Buszkiewic attacked her by slapping and choking her after the two returned to Buszkiewic's home from a bar shortly after 5 a.m. April 30. The victim was reportedly able to get free, but  Buszkiewic allegedly attacked her again when she returned to his residence to get her things about two hours after the first alleged incident.

Court documents say the victim left for Sheridan around 9 a.m.

Buszkiewic is being held in the Albany County Detention Center on $15,000 bond. A preliminary hearing is set for May 13.
