CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) — Two horses at a Wyoming community college have been euthanized because of an unidentified illness.

The horses at Laramie County Community College in Cheyenne had private owners.

LCCC equine studies instructor Lanae McDonald says the owners agreed with the decision to euthanize them.

McDonald says the horses were euthanized earlier this month and veterinarians are trying to determine what illness inflicted the horses. She hopes for results by mid-November.
McDonald says one of the horses was 12 years old and the other 20. Both had high fevers and had stopped eating, drinking or moving around much.

A third horse also has become sick and has been quarantined.

As a result of the situation, LCCC is postponing this month's Shawn Dubie Memorial Rodeo.
