Additional Information

Nadine Strossen, law professor and former ACLU president, will speak about free speech, specifically what limits there should and should not be, at the University of Wyoming Monday, October 8 at 7:30 pm in the Education Auditorium. There will be a Q&A immediately following the lecture. This event is free and open to the public.

“Twice named one of “The 100 Most Influential Lawyers in America” by The National Law Journal, Nadine draws from her two decades as president of the American Civil Liberties Union and current post as professor at New York University law school to highlight the dangers that follow efforts to serve justice by limiting civil rights. She also offers useful and applicable strategies for achieving positive outcomes without violating Constitutional rights. From government surveillance and decriminalization of drugs, to sexual harassment and more, Nadine makes even complex issues accessible through the use of illuminating statistics and true-life stories. Moved by Nadine’s in-depth knowledge of history and the law, as well as her unapologetic defense of human rights, audiences leave with a renewed understanding of and appreciation for their hard-won freedoms” (Keppler Speakers).

The 7220 Fine Arts & Lectures Committee will be hosting Nadine Strossen: "Free Speech on Campus: What Limits Should There Be?” and meets on Tuesdays at 4:00 p.m. in the Campus Activities Center (Union 012) during the school year.
