Additional Information

The Laramie Audubon Society will host their annual late-winter “bird hop” trip to Centennial and Albany this Saturday morning. The group will meet at 8 a.m. at Coal Creek Coffee (downtown Laramie: 110 Grand Avenue) and then carpool to Centennial. The anticipated first stop will be the yard of the Beartree Cafe. From there, the group will stroll around the surrounding neighborhood looking for birds in the trees and open portions of town as well as at feeders. The next stop will be the Albany Lodge for a no-host breakfast with a view of the feeders on the Lodge’s deck. At this time of year, birds that may be seen at feeders and in the general field trip area include rosy finch, evening grosbeak, black-billed magpie, Stellar\'s jay, mountain and black-capped chickadee, downy woodpecker, Oregon dark-eyed junco, and Clark\'s nutcracker, as well as Canada goose, common raven, horned lark, bald eagle, and other raptors.
This LAS outing is suitable for all ability levels and is an opportunity to socialize with others in the Laramie Valley community who are interested in birds. Participants are reminded to dress for Wyoming weather and to bring drinks and snacks as well as any binoculars, scopes, and field books that they have available. Most trips last several hours; participants are free to leave early if they have their own transportation. Contact laramie.audubon@gmail.com for more information.
