Baroness Catherine Ashton, UK politician, EU Trade and Foreign Representative, architect of the Iran Nuclear Agreement, and one of the world’s most influential women leaders, is coming to UW! Throughout her political career, Ashton has focused on education and human rights issues, and is a recognized leader on LGBTQ rights. She served as junior Constitutional Affairs minister and junior Justice Minister before being elevated to Baroness and entering the House of Lords. In 2008, she was made European Union (EU) trade commissioner. The next year, she became the EU’s High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy.
