Presented by 7220 Entertainment and African American and Diaspora Studies, the film Birth of a Nation will be showing in the Union Family Room on February 13. There will a showing with closed captioning at 6:00 pm with a panel discussion to follow. The film is rated R with a runtime of 2 hours. This event is open to the public.

“Set against the antebellum South, THE BIRTH OF A NATION follows Nat Turner, a literate slave and preacher, whose financially strained owner, Samuel Turner, accepts an offer to use Nat's preaching to subdue unruly slaves. As he witnesses countless atrocities--against himself and his fellow slaves--Nat orchestrates an uprising in the hopes of leading his people to freedom.” (Rotten Tomatoes).
