Cheyenne Weather Service Office Warns Of Extreme Cold
The office has issued this statement:
"We can not overstress the very cold temperatures expected today and tonight east of an Arctic front that is parked near the Laramie Range. Highs today in the Panhandle are not expected to even reach zero today with overnight lows down to 20 below zero. Even with 5 to 10 mph winds, dangerous wind chill temperatures will result. There are going to be folks out and about tonight celebrating New Year's Eve. Alcohol beverages make you lose body heat quicker as well. This extreme cold will be very dangerous and life threatening to anyone caught outdoors and without the proper protection. For those going out tonight, dress in multiple layers, and take extra care to protect your extremities as your fingers, toes, ear lobes, and nose are significantly more susceptible to frost bite. Keep an eye on your friends who may have had too much to drink. Think about your furry friends tonight as well, bring them inside to keep them safe and warm."
