Ask The City: Downtown Dumpsters

The Question:

Because of the recent events and the bars, dumpsters are constantly full and not available for use by the residents of downtown. Is there any way to bring in extra dumpsters or limit who is allowed to put trash where?

“The City services very few dumpsters in the downtown area due to alley size constraints. Most of them are WDS dumpsters and yes, some are overflowing. If the residents or bars downtown need more dumping capacity or extra dumps they should contact their hauler for additional service.

For Jubilee days we added 4 roll off containers, 20 trash carts and 15 recycling carts. Those were all removed following the event. We do service the 84 downtown trash cans. These are the ones located on the sidewalks used by downtown patrons. In the summer months, the City picks them up twice a week.”
