The Question:

Will the city being doing any work to the West Laramie dog park this year? Such as adding a water fountain for the dogs, adding a training course, or reseeding from the winter?

The Answer:

“On behalf of the City of Laramie, thank you for your inquiry regarding the dog friendly off leash area at Optimist Park. Park staff will begin reseeding the damaged area this week. The area to be reseeded will be closed for approximately three weeks to allow for germination and establishment of the seed.

However, the small dog friendly off leash area and the area outside the temporary fenced area will remain open throughout the project, as well as, the dog friendly off leash area located at 22nd and Harney.

Staff is currently working on providing non potable drinking water for the dog friendly off leash area at Optimist Park with a target completion date by the 4th of July.

Finally, the City of Laramie currently does not have plans for adding a training course at the dog friendly off leash area at Optimist Park.

Once again, thank you for your inquiry and please do not hesitate to contact the parks manager’s office at 307-721-5264 or dschott@cityoflaramie.org with any questions or concerns.”
