A man from Mohave Valley, Ariz., died in a one-motorcycle accident in western Wyoming on Wednesday, according to a news release from the Wyoming Highway Patrol.

The 62-year-old man was riding a three-wheeled motorcycle towing a small cargo trailer traveling west on U.S. Highway 26 about 25 miles east of Dubois, according to the news release from Patrol Sgt. David Wagener.

For reasons still under investigation, the motorcycle left the highway to the north at 4:22 p.m., crossed a driveway, struck a cattle guard and crashed into the fence attached to the cattle guard.

The man, whose name has not been released pending notification of family, and his 61-year-old female passenger were thrown from the motorcycle.

Both motorcycle occupants were wearing helmets at the time of the crash.

The man died at the scene. The woman was taken by helicopter ambulance to the Wyoming Medical Center in Casper and has been hospitalized.

This crash marked the 67th highway fatality in Wyoming for 2016. There were 92 fatalities during this same time period in 2015.
