For the first time in the 44-year history of the Wyoming-Montana All-Star Basketball series, the games will not be played next month.

It marks another annual summer tradition that's gone by the wayside thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic. Midland Roundtable, a group that runs the all-star basketball classic, confirmed the news on Wednesday, which was first reported by Montanasports.com.

The 2020 games were scheduled for June 12 and 13 in Sheridan and Billings, MT.

The boys' series started in 1976, while the girls' series began in 1997. Montana enjoys big leads in both. The boys stand at 61-27, while the girls have a 33-13 edge.

Last year, Montana won all four match-ups. Both boys' games were close, as Montana beat Wyoming 103-100 in Billings and 95-94 in Sheridan. It was all Montana in the lady's match-ups a year ago. They won 84-66 in Billings and 89-46 in Sheridan.

The Montana boys have won 16 straight in the series, while the Montana girls have been victorious in seven consecutive games.

The Wyoming rosters for the 2020 games have not been publicly announced by the two head coaches, men's coach Cody Ball and women's coach Ryan Davis, both from Sheridan College. They will be released in the coming weeks to recognize those who were invited and committed to participating.
