WYDOT Snow Budget
According to the Wyoming Department of Transportation snow control costs this winter exceeded the planned budget by $6.6 million.
The budget allotted $22.6 million, but WYDOT was forced to spend $29.2 million. Costs were about average through January, but February required double the usual amount of work and major snow storms in March, April, and May hurt financially.
The figure includes the cost of reopening Snowy Range Pass and US 14A west of Burgess Junction in May.
The extra cost will be made up through funds from the department’s budget for equipment, buildings, and state-funded construction projects.
