Your Question:

My neighbors and I are curious...

Why doesn't the city tow vehicles before they slurry the streets, and instead do the construction and leave uncovered patches when the owners of the vehicles eventually drive away? Seems logical, considering that vehicles are towed every Friday in preparation for the Farmers Market.

Thanks!

The City's Response:

On occasion, towing may occur for a slurry seal project.  If there is doubt about when the vehicle was parked in the work area, the contractor will often go out around the vehicle and come back to it later.  Since slurry seal scheduling is a moving target that changes based on weather, asphalt delivery, and aggregate delivery, towing vehicles is given careful consideration.

Farmers Market, on the other hand, has a clearly designated and published time for the event.   Towing occurs at the request of the officials managing the market on behalf of the Downtown Laramie Business Association.
