The University of Wyoming's Veterans Services Center (VSC) will have its third annual Roll Call ceremony to honor soldiers who gave their lives for the war on terror. The university will join campuses across the nation in reading off names of fallen soldiers at 8 a.m. in the Simpson Plaza, November 11 th.“Each year, more and more of our brothers and sisters fall in battle, and we honor them by reading their names during our national roll call event,” says Marty Martinez, UW VSC project coordinator. Anyone who wishes to read can do so by emailing their: name,phone number and preferred time to read to uw-vets@uwyo.edu;November 9th is the deadline for volunteering. The VSC urges UW students and the general public to come volunteer and read the names of fallen soldiers. "It's a special way of remembering our friends and family and brothers and sisters in arms, that gave their lives in these wars", says Tim Freye, UW student veteran. Each time block for reading names is expected to last approximately 15 minutes. There will be a moment of silence at noon. The event will start at 8a.m. with a flag presentation, which is done by the University of Wyoming's Airforce and Army ROTC cadets followed by a short speech to announce commencement of the Roll Call ceremony. Name readings will continue through the day until the last name of fallen soldiers is read. Tim Freye speaks more on what is new this year about the Roll Call event.
