The University of Wyoming has announced their choice for the university’s first associate vice provost for global engagement.

Anthony “Tony” Ogden will begin his new position at UW July 31. He will oversee UW’s new Global Management office, which was created as part of UW’s strategic plan, “Breaking Through; 2017-2022,” according to UW. The office was created to increase the recruitment of international students and to increase the engagement of faculty and students in international education. He will also have an academic appointment in the College of Education’s School of Counseling, Leadership, Advocacy and Design.

Ogden was most recently the executive director of education abroad and exchanges at Michigan State University. He is a two-time Fulbright recipient and holds a dual-title Ph.D from Penn State in educational theory and policy and comparative and international education.

“I am thrilled to be moving to the University of Wyoming,” Ogden says in a statement. “It will be an honor to serve UW in this capacity and to work in close partnership with Dr. Miller, the Global Engagement Office team and UW faculty and staff to refine existing programming and develop new initiatives that respond to current global affairs and trends in international education.”

UW’s Global Engagement Office is comprised of the Education Abroad Office, formerly the Office of Study Abroad; the International Students and Scholars Office and the English Language Center.
