The University of Wyoming Symphony Orchestra (UWSO) will close the spring concert series with a performance of the hugely popular “Butterfly Lovers Concerto” Thursday, May 1, at 7:30 p.m. in the Buchanan Center for the Performing Arts concert hall.

Tickets, $6 for students, $7 for seniors and $10 for the public, are available a twww.uwyo.edu/finearts, or at the Performing Arts and Wyoming Union box offices.

The concert features a performance by popular Chinese violinist Sha Xiao Cao. She has performed the work at Carnegie Hall; recorded it with a Russian orchestra; and performed it with the Shanghai Symphony as part of the 40th anniversary of its premiere.

The evening will open with Rossini’s overture to “La Gazza Ladra” and, after intermission, the UWSO will end the season with Vassili Kalinnikov’s “Symphony No. 1.”
