UWPD says that 20-year-old Luke McConville remains in a Denver-area hospital as a result of head injuries sustained during a fight late Halloween night.

UW Police Chief Mike Samp says McConville’s condition has improved.  McConville was reported to be conscious and communicating on Sunday, but his injuries are still considered to be “very serious.”

According to Commander Mitchell Cushman of the Laramie Police Department, McConville was attempting to break up the fight when his injuries occurred.

Samp says the UWPD is continuing to investigate the incident, which occurred on the 1100 block of Flint Street in Laramie. Several people were involved in the incident. Three other UW students are reported to have suffered injuries in the fight. They were treated at Ivinson Memorial Hospital.

Few details are being disclosed because the investigation is ongoing. Samp says a number of people have been interviewed, resulting in the gathering of important information. No arrests have been made so far in the case.

The UWPD is seeking a suspect in the assault, a male described as 5-foot-8 to 5-foot-10, possibly Hispanic, who wore a black jacket with red trim. Two white males who wore tie-dye shirts are also being sought. In addition, UWPD is looking for a possible witness described as a white female who wore a white and black cocktail-type dress.
