Billboard jazz vocalist Jane Monheit will perform Sunday, Oct. 16, at 7:30 p.m. at the University of Wyoming Fine Arts concert hall.

Tickets cost $15 for students and senior citizens and $20 for the public. Tickets are available at the Wyoming Union and Fine Arts box offices or online at www.uwyo.edu/finearts .

Monheit's debut album, "Never, Never Land," was on the Billboard jazz charts for more than a year and was voted best debut recording by the Jazz Journalists Association. UW Cultural Programs Director Cedric Reverand said Monheit's next CD also landed atop the Billboard charts. Her next CD earned her a Grammy nomination, and the one after that started off as number one on the Billboard charts.

Having established herself as a promising jazz artist working with newer compositions, Monheit went back to her roots and released an album of jazz classics.

"Home," her 10th CD, is now featured regularly on jazz radio and is described as "an ode to the golden age of the jazz standard."

The New York Times praised Monheit, saying "the pristine quality of her voice is a remarkable asset."
