The Cowboy Saloon and Dance Hall, located on Second Street, offers great entertainment Wednesday through Saturday nights and stays open late for night owls.  Drink specials are also offered every night. (Although the Cowboy is only open Wednesdays-Saturdays.) There are $1 Coors Drafts and $2 Bud Lights.

On Wednesdays, The Cowboy turns up the country western as crowds of cowboy boats begin to stomp and swing to the beat.  Wednesdays are country swing night (18+) from 9pm to 1am.  The crowd is friendly and partners are easy to find. Don’t know how to country swing? With the chance to go every Wednesday night, practice time is plentiful and it is easy to watch other, more experienced dancers.  Want a little more “professional” help? Try attending the UW swing club.  It’s free to attend, and while it may teach you more traditional swing moves, the majority of the moves can be applied to country swing as well.

Thursdays are Hip Hop night (18+) from 9pm to 1am.  While the crowd may not be decked out in cowboy boots and big belt buckles, they are no less fun.  If you just bought a new clubbing outfit and don’t want to drive to Denver to try it out, you could probably get away with it Thursday nights at The Cowboy.  Unfortunately, there are no hip hop dancing groups to attend, so you will have to teach yourself to dance.

Every Friday and Saturday, The Cowboy has live bands, and consequently, dancing (though the style is always varying).  Their complete schedule can be found online, but several of the reappearing bands include Chancey Williams and the Younger Brothers Band, Proud Cut Ponies, RatTrapper, Little Tybee, River Whyless, Seth Savage Band, and the Michael Dee Band. The Patti Fiasco will also make an appearance this semester.
