Laramie residents in the mood for a little live country music are in luck, because the Cowboy Saloon and Dance Hall in Laramie will be hosting country music singer Josh Ward on Friday, Dec. 1.

Ward, originally from Montgomery, Texas, is a number one hit artist and recently celebrated his eight consecutive number one hit single on the Texas Regional radio chart with his song “Change My Mind,” according to a press release from RPR Media. His single “Whiskey and Whitley,” won song of the year at the Texas Regional Radio Awards.

“He [Ward] is a well versed song-smith with a traditionally haunting voice and the songs are rich in melodic density and really they all tell the stories that defined the country music genre from the beginning,” said RPR Media founder Brandy Reed in a statement.

Ward got his start playing in the parking lots on the rodeo circuit. He is described as an “old school” country music artist.

Ward said he grew up playing in the honky-tonks and the saloons and he loves the atmosphere in those venues.

"I love just seeing people get out there and dance, man," Ward said in an interview with David Settle. "When the dance floor's spinning, the beer is flowing I'm doing something right."

Ward said his shows cover all the ground fans can expect from a country music artist.

"It's a country music show! We get a little honky, we get lovey, we get sad, we get kinda gritty," Ward said. "We're gonna give you a show."

The doors open Friday night at 8 p.m. and the show starts at 9 p.m. Tickets are $7 pre-sale and $10 on the day of the show.
