A homicide suspect took his own life after leading Wyoming and Colorado authorities on a chase from Cheyenne to Wellington early Saturday morning, officials say.

A wanted Wellington, Colorado man is facing felony charges in Laramie County after reportedly getting into a hit-and-run accident with a pickup he stole from a Cheyenne construction company.

The deputies turned around to follow the Durango, but the driver sped away before they could stop him. He left the car and fled on foot, but deputies found him hiding in a backyard and arrested him.

The shooting followed a high-speed chase.

Investigators think some of the juveniles or surveillance systems on nearby homes may have captured video of the incident.

There had been three crew members on the train when it derailed.
