Emergency fire restrictions in Albany County, WY now in effect. Know the rules to avoid penalties and help prevent wildfires.

The Crater Ridge Fire ignited on July 17 in a remote area in the Bighorn National Forest.

Containment grew from 35% to 52% since Friday as a cold front moved through the area.

Fire restrictions have been lifted on some federal lands in stern Wyoming.

Officials with Yellowstone National Park have advised that the parkwide fire danger level for the park is "very high and Stage 1 fire restrictions are in effect."

More of Wyoming will be under a fire restriction beginning Friday.

Beginning today, June 16, stage 1 fire restrictions will be in effect for the Medicine Bow-Routt National Forests and Thunder Basin National Grassland. Stage 1 fire restrictions will take effect in parts of eastern and central Wyoming beginning Tuesday.

The fire restrictions take effect immediately.

The enhanced fire restrictions go into effect Friday.
