Drinking and driving numbers have been released in time for the holiday weekend.

When troopers and deputies arrived on the scene, they found that traffic was backed up behind the suspected drunk driver for about a quarter of a mile.

Lt. Kyle McKay says five of the arrests were for impaired driving and three were for controlled substances.

In an effort to keep traveling football fans safe, law enforcement from Wyoming and Colorado will once again be teaming up to sideline impaired drivers.

The enforcement effort will start on Friday, March 17 and run through Sunday, March 19.

This holiday season, the Laramie Police Department is reminding everyone about the dangers of drunk driving.

Coordinated enforcement efforts will take place in Albany, Laramie, Larimer, and Weld counties before, during, and after the game, which kicks off at 5 p.m. at Canvas Stadium.
