A Wyoming man is facing several charges after allegedly driving erratically and backing up traffic on Interstate 80 near Evanston recently.

That's according to a post on the Wyoming Highway Patrol's Facebook page.

According to the post, Highway Patrol Troopers and Uinta County Law Enforcement Services responded to over a dozen reports of a drunk driver who was driving erratically at a low rate of speed on the afternoon of December 28.

Among other things, the vehicle was towing a trailer that had lost a tire, making the situation a lot more dangerous. When troopers and deputies arrived on the scene, they found that traffic was backed up behind the suspected drunk driver for about a quarter of a mile.

The Driver Refused To Stop

Troopers tried to pull the vehicle over, but the driver refused to stop and a chase got underway, albeit at speeds of 25-45 miles per hour. The vehicle continued to swerve erratically all over the highway, but troopers and deputies were finally able to get the driver to stop safely near milepost marker 39 on I-80 westbound.

The motorist, who is identified in the post only as a Wyoming resident, was arrested for reckless driving, eluding police, driving under the influence of alcohol, interference with a peace officer, and having an open container in a motor vehicle.

You can see a video of part of the chase below.
