Smith Not Intimidated by Cheney
Congressional hopeful Darin Smith says he isn't scared of opponent Liz Cheney.
"I don't know why people are so intimidated of the Cheney name," said Smith.
The two Republicans are among ten candidates vying for Wyoming's lone seat in the U.S. House of Representatives, a seat once held by Cheney's dad, former Vice President Dick Cheney.
"There have been political folks and political establishment types that have gone back to Washington, had plenty of opportunity to fix things and that time is over," said Smith. "We need people who have a background for making changes and getting stuff done."
"We need people from the private sector and from the non-profit sector, people who their psychology is how can we do more with less," added Smith. "That's not the psychology of the federal government, their psychology is how can we do less with more."
Cheney, who's arguably one of the front runners in the race, has been endorsed by former U.S. Senator Al Simpson and will likely pour a large sum of money into her campaign.
"Just because I'll be outspent 20, maybe 30 to 1, I don't think that that necessarily prohibits me from being able to compete," said Smith. "I believe that ideas still matter in America, I believe that you can not necessarily buy an election and I believe that people will go with the best ideas."
