A Riverton man died two days after a motorcycle crash south of Ethete on Sunday, according to a news release from the Wyoming Highway Patrol.

Scott McIntyre, 52, was riding at the back of a group of other bikers northbound on Wyoming Highway 132, also known as the Blue Sky Highway.

As the other motorcycles slowed, McIntyre braked too hard, lost control and was thrown from his motorcycle about four miles south of Ethete at 2:32 p.m.

He was not wearing a helmet and was seriously injured. He was taken to the Wyoming Medical Center in Casper where he died from his injuries on Wednesday.

Alcohol use and driver inattention are being investigated as contributing factors in this crash.

This marked the 96th highway fatality in Wyoming for 2016, compared to 123 fatalities during this same time period last year.

This crash was the 23rd highway fatality involving a motorcycle for 2016.
