This weekend, roughly 200 skiers from across the state will compete in the Nordic State Championships on the City Ski Trails at Happy Jack recreation area.

The event will feature competitors from seven different schools throughout Wyoming; the schools that compete take turns hosting the tournament, so Laramie only hosts the event every 6-7 years and have not hosted since 2006.

Beginning at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, there will be a women's 5K freestyle race. This event features staggered starts, and racers will start every 30 seconds. Ten minutes after the final female competitor has begun her race, the men's race will follow suit. On Saturday, there will be a 10K classic race which begins at 10:00am with the men, again with skiers starting every 30 seconds.

For those interested in spectating at the event, there will be a shuttle provided for spectators from the Summit Rest Area parking lot to the Tie City ski trails.
