Nominations Accepted for Top Ten Wyoming Artifacts

Public cultural institutions across Wyoming have been invited to nominate their most significant artifacts for the Wyoming State Historical Society's 2016 Top Ten Artifacts project.

Nominations will be accepted until 5 p.m. Monday, Feb. 15.  Visit the UW Libraries website for more nomination forms and guidelines.

The Society partnered with the University of Wyoming Libraries last year to name the top 10 artifacts in state history to coincide with Wyoming's 125th anniversary of statehood.

"It was so overwhelmingly popular last year that we decided to make it an annual event," says Tamsen Hert, UW collections librarian and Historical Society president.

This year's process will be similar to the method used last year.  From nominations submitted to a website run by UW Libraries, judges will select the top 25 artifacts and the public will then vote on the top 10.  Winners will be announced at the society's annual meeting this fall in Buffalo.
