Overall Laramie is a great town to live in and is relatively quiet when it comes to crimes and unorthodox events. Yesterday the Laramie Police Department arrested a local women for aggravated robbery and kidnapping. The following is a release by the LPD in regards to the matter.

The Laramie Police Department assisted by Albany County Sheriff’s Office arrested 57 year old Cheryl Marie Besel Thursday at 11:59 AM for Kidnapping and Aggravated Robbery to the Check Into Cash business in the 2900 block of Grand. Besel used what was described as a semi automatic .22 caliber handgun when threatening the employee of Check Into Cash. Besel then forced the employee into the bathroom and told her to stay in the bathroom as she escaped. Besel was involved in a pursuit where her vehicle tires were flattened by road spikes before she stopped and was apprehended without incident. Investigation is continuing.

Kidnapping is a felony punishable by imprisonment for up to 20 years. Aggravated Robbery is a felony punishable by imprisonment for not less than 5 years nor more than 25 years if in the course of the crime of robbery the person:…uses or exhibits a deadly weapon or a simulated deadly weapon.
