Liz Cheney Praises Trump Pardon of Libby
CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) — Wyoming U.S. Rep. Liz Cheney is praising President Donald Trump's decision to pardon the chief of staff of former Vice President Dick Cheney.
Liz Cheney said Friday Lewis "Scooter" Libby is a "good, honorable and innocent man" who fell victim to prosecutorial misconduct. Cheney expressed her gratitude to Trump for the pardon.
Liz Cheney is a daughter of the former vice president. Both are Republicans.
Libby was convicted in 2007 of lying to investigators and obstruction of justice after the covert identity of CIA officer Valerie Plame was leaked to the public.
President George W. Bush commuted Libby's 30-month prison sentence.
