With twelve non-conference games out of the way, it’s now time for the second season of high school basketball, as both the Laramie Plainsmen and Laramie Lady Plainsmen begin competition in the 4A East Conference this weekend.

It’s a difficult beginning for both squads, as they face two of the top three teams in the state based on rankings from the Wyopreps.com Coach’s and Media Poll.

The Plainsmen at least have the benefit of being at home in the friendly confines of the LHS gym.  Tonight, Laramie (5-7) faces the 3rd-ranked Sheridan Broncs (9-3).  Then they take on the top-ranked Gillette Camels (12-1) tomorrow afternoon.

Both Plainsmen games can be heard on KOWB (AM 1290) and via our live stream at www.network1sports.com/station/kowb.  Live coverage of tonight’s game will start at 6:45 pm, while tomorrow’s broadcast will start after the conclusion of the Wyoming Cowgirl broadcast at approximately 4:15 pm.

For the 4th-ranked Lady Plainsmen (11-1) things are a bit more difficult.  Even though they have won nine straigtht, they open league play with the toughest road swing of the season.  Tonight, they play at #1 Sheridan (12-0), and then take on the 3rd-ranked Camels (10-2) tomorrow in Gillette.  The Lady Plainsmen swept this road trip last year, but this year looks tough.

Game times for the Lady Plainsmen are at 7:30 pm in Sheridan and 2:30 pm tomorrow in Gillette.
